Zinel is a social app for creating, reading, and publishing digital ZINEs. We are committed to being transparent about how we handle your data and to protecting your privacy.

We collect only the data necessary to provide the service and do not sell your personal information to third parties.

2. Information We Collect

We collect the following types of information when you use Zinel:

• Account information — Your name, email address, and profile picture, provided when you sign in via Apple or Google authentication
• User-generated content — ZINEs, images, text, and other content you create or upload within the app
• Usage data — Information about how you use the app, including pages viewed, features used, and interactions with content
• Device information — Device type, operating system version, and app version, used for debugging and improving performance

We do not collect payment information directly. All payments are processed by Apple through the App Store.

3. How We Use Your Information

We use the information we collect to:

• Provide and operate the Zinel service
• Display your profile and content to other users in accordance with your privacy settings
• Improve the app and develop new features
• Respond to your support requests and communications
• Send important updates about the service, such as changes to these policies
• Detect and prevent fraudulent or abusive activity

We do not use your content to train AI models or share it with third parties for marketing purposes.

4. Data Storage

Your data is stored securely using Supabase, a cloud database platform. Your account data, content, and associated metadata are stored on Supabase infrastructure.

Data may be stored on servers located outside your country of residence. By using Zinel, you consent to the transfer and storage of your data in accordance with this policy.

We implement reasonable security measures to protect your data, but no system is completely secure. We cannot guarantee the absolute security of your information.

We retain your data for as long as your account is active. If you delete your account, we will remove your personal data within a reasonable period, except where retention is required by law.

5. Your Rights

You have the following rights regarding your personal data:

• Access — You may request a copy of the personal data we hold about you
• Correction — You may update your account information at any time within the app
• Deletion — You may request deletion of your account and associated data by contacting us at support@zinel.app
• Portability — You may export your ZINEs using the in-app export feature

To exercise any of these rights, please contact us at support@zinel.app. We will respond to your request within a reasonable timeframe.

6. Third-Party Services

Zinel uses the following third-party services that may process your data:

• Apple Sign-In / Google Sign-In — For authentication. Their privacy policies govern the data they collect during sign-in.
• Supabase — For database and storage infrastructure.
• Apple App Store — For payment processing. Apple's privacy policy governs payment data.

We are not responsible for the privacy practices of these third-party services.

7. Children's Privacy

Zinel is not directed at children under the age of 13. We do not knowingly collect personal information from children under 13. If you believe we have inadvertently collected such information, please contact us and we will promptly delete it.

8. Changes to This Policy

We may update this Privacy Policy from time to time. We will notify you of significant changes via the app or by email. Your continued use of Zinel after any changes constitutes your acceptance of the updated policy.

The date at the top of this page indicates when this policy was last revised.
